Command Centre

The Command Centre gives you a live, time-stepped view of the NEM: unit-level dispatch, interconnector flows, and regional demand and generation mix. Use it to monitor current conditions or step through recent 5-minute periods to see how the system changed.

Access the Command Centre from the app sidebar under Analyse, alongside Asset Intelligence and System Intelligence.

Overview

The main view is an interactive map of Australia showing every registered unit. Points are coloured by fuel type and sized by dispatched MW for the selected period. You can filter by region and technology to focus on specific parts of the fleet.

A time bar at the top lets you move backward and forward through available 5-minute intervals. Use the play and pause controls to animate through time, or the Live button to jump to the latest period. The scrubber shows the current period time in Australian Eastern time.

Details panel

Open the slide-out panel from the top-right to see detailed data for the current period. The panel has three tabs:

  • Units: All units on the map, sorted by dispatched MW. Search by station name or DUID. Each row shows a sparkline of recent dispatch and the current MW value. Click a unit to highlight it on the map.
  • Interconnectors: Flow (target and metered MW), import and export limits, and loss percentage for each NEM interconnector. Sparklines show flow and limits over time. Click to highlight the interconnector on the map.
  • Regions: Per-region demand, 5-minute price, net interchange, and a stacked bar of generation by fuel. Sparklines show demand and price over the available range.

Data is loaded for a recent window of 5-minute periods. The panel and map stay in sync: changing the time updates all sparklines and values to that period.
